About

Rosalba Mancuso is a bilingual European-based journalist with a long experience acquired as a freelance contributor to magazines and newspapers.

She was born and lived in the surroundings of the American naval air station in Sigonella, Sicily.

Fortunately, she never breathed the smell of war, but only the delicious scent of olive trees. along with a fiercy mix of Italian/American culture that allowed her to practise the art of bilingual writing.

Rosalba, indeed, writes in both Italian and English.

Her first article was published in 1994, in a Christian magazine in Italian, called “Orizzonti”, where Rosalba wrote about fake charity campaigns funded by false fundraising events.

Over time, Rosalba has written for print and online publications, such as QdS (Quotidiano di Sicilia), GdS (Giornale di Sicilia), and Affari Italiani, the main online newspaper in Italy, and for the online psychology magazine of Italian publisher De Agostini.

In 1998, thanks to the collaboration with the Italian national daily newspaper for the island of Sicily, Giornale di Sicilia, Rosalba earned the journalist card from the Italian Order of Journalists, where she has been a member from 1998 to 2015.

The advent of the Internet marked the transition of Rosalba to online journalism and blogging, especially in English.

An education in the English language (academic diploma in Business, Science and Language Arts at the Technical College Giorgio Arcoleo in Caltagirone, Sicily), and the passion for American English books, led Rosalba to found a book review magazine in English, in 2012, followed by a blog about Sicily in 2015 and a health magazine in 2020.

These online magazines provided her with global readership and international recognitions, paving the way to collaborations as an international journalist with media agencies, companies and organizations around the world, like OpenPR (UK), Yahoo Voices, Le Parisien Matin, Paris, Parkinson’s News Today, United States, Website Prohk, content marketing agency in Hong Kong. and pharmaceutical companies, such as Cardiophoenix, Toronto, Canada; Pharmamedic, London; Alfasigma, Bologna, and medical testing laboratory Biomedical in Catania, where Rosalba has worked as a PR assistant and medical content writer, writing about cardiac telemedicine, aging, genetics, nutrition, cancer, autoimmune disease, mental health, neuroscience, social healthcare and microbiology.

Amid this bulk of experiences, Rosalba found time to expand her education, earning a diploma in English Language and Literature at the Galileo Galilei School in Grammichele, Sicily, a certificate in Internationalization from the University of Washington, and an international membership with the AHCJ, American Association of Health Care Journalists.

She also attended the course in Journalism and Culture at the University of Catania.

During her long experience as a freelance writer, Rosalba has embraced all the nuances of writing, and worked as an editor, copywriter, ghostwriter, press officer and translator, also.

She edited text for the European Parliament, edited two novels, written a screenplay, and a non-fiction book, crafted and spread press releases, and translated three books (one was a biography of Pope Francis).

Along the years, Rosalba has completed over 10,000 writing projects, both in Italian and in English.

Today, Rosalba is an experienced freelance medical, health and science journalist, an editorial book reviewer and a reporter with a deep bond with her beloved Sicily.

As a journalist affected by autoimmune disease, bipolar depression and neurological disorder, she now covers news and stories on autoimmunity, mental health, and neurological diseases for international online magazines.

Her pieces are appreciated for the emotional impact that her life experience gives to the written words.

Contact Rosalba if you need articles or if you have stories and books to share in her fields of expertise.
